Halaib, Shalateen and Alfashaga: The occupied Sudanese territories

I was pleased to finally see that a draft resolution has been discussed by parliament to deal with the issue of sovereignty over Halaib triangle.

Parliament Speaker Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir revealed that Sudan has presented a legal appeal for the international legal organizations on the "Halaib triangle ", the disputed area between Sudan and Egypt.

Commenting on speech by a number of MPs, Al-Tahir said that the draft law on aggression, which the parliament plans to discuss places Egypt in the category of an enemy state, pointing out that it requires a response to the aggression. Al-Tahir went further to say that but the situation in Halaib is different from the one that happened in Heglig, adding that Sudan presented a legal appeal on the area and a new resolution will be issued in the coming period.

Member of NCP bloc in parliament, Ismail Hassan, pointed out that there should not be double standards on dealing with such issues, adding that its very important to respond equally to the aggression on all the Sudanese occupied territories such as Halaib, Alfashaga and the other areas. He said repulsion of aggression did not require a legislation since it is already a legitimate right.

I agree with the PCP member in this regards and join hands with him to call on the concerned authorities to repulse the aggression from all the Sudanese occupied territories including Halaib, Shalateen and Alfashaga as these areas are Sudanese and their sovereignty does not need to be decided by the international arbitration because they are still rightfully belong to Sudan and we will never relinquished them or make any concessions regard such issue of sovereignty.

If the Sudanese armed forces are capable of re-taking these areas by force as has recently been done in Heglig, I think, they should immediately do so, because any part of this country represents our dignity and sovereignty regardless of its potential resources and whether it has oil or not or  whether the aggressors were insects or lions.

We hope that the leadership of the country will take positive steps toward the issues of the sovereignty of the Sudanese territories in the near future.
