Broad-base Gov't or narrow-base one, it doesn't matter!

Since the declaration of the independence of Southern Sudan, the ruling party in Sudan, the National Congress Party (NCP), has been making promises of forming a new broad-base government and reiterating during the last few weeks, that it would announce it before Eid al-Adha, which is now only three days away!

The NCP intends to form a broad-base government from the entire political spectrum and in particular the prestigious parties: the National Umma Party (NUP) and Democratic United Party (DUP), consultations and talks are still ongoing with no useful, concrete and tangible results because these prestigious parties refuse to participate except on their own conditions, while the NCP is insisting on continuing its same old attitudes and nobody knows where it will end up at the end.

Unfortunately all political parties are now working only for their own interests without paying any attention to the deteriorating situation of the country; the DUP said yesterday that they are neither a ruling nor an opposition party, I am wondering if there any expert to help this DUP in describing its situation!

In fact we, in Sudan, are suffering weakness in all the political forces including the ruling and opposition parties; the current government is a loser because it failed in saving the country united and failed also in securing the rest of country, there are now many ongoing conflicts in many fronts and the country is, at the same time in its worst economic situation.

In turn the NUP and the Popular Congress Party (PCP) rejected because they want a national government, not a broad-base government while this could not be except through free and fair elections and not under the supervision of one party!

The opposition parties want to achieve their full goals of changing the regime, while this could not be achieved also in the near future because they do not have the tools of political action whereas they are suffering from the lack of good organizing and the tangible impact among the masses.

The distance between those parties and their bases had made a negative impact on its effectiveness add to this fact that these parties have lost lots of their cadres either from the bases or the political leadership who were polarized by the ruling party of which has worked hard to attract them to create similar parties to participate instead of the original ones!

The most pressing question is what the broad-based government will present to the bases - this helpless Sudanese people!? - And what are their liabilities and conditions for this broad-based government the people just need who will solve their problems which should be dealt by constructive ideas that adopted by a government whatsoever, it does not matter to be broad-based government or narrow-one!, what is so important and concern of the people is just change and only change to the better!.

Another question is whether the current government or this virtual one is able to achieve this goal? Or if it is just appeasement and sharing of power and wealth? Or as it is said sharing of the cake?

There are many legitimate questions need to be answered, while all parties are battling for a new government without providing a clear vision for how they want to govern, serve and save the human beings.

Push and pull between the government and the opposition have built isolation walls within the political system of the country while it is in dire need of good governance to pull it out from this misery situation!

Opposition parties are gathering and dispersing and their only desire is how to participate or change the regime!, while they do not even have specific vision or tools to achieve this change, the Sudanese people is no longer trust in all the political forces, therefore I do believe that there will be no change unless it comes from the people themselves.
