South Sudan in need of Arabic teachers

President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit will visit Khartoum tomorrow. Monday, at the head of a delegation of senior officials of his state to hold joint talks with the government of Sudan on a number of issues.

Al-Sahafa daily reported that the meetings are expected to discuss a package of memoranda of understanding (MOU) files to be signed by Presidents Omar al-Bashir and Salva Kiir, in the field of oil, water, public and higher education, electricity, dams and health.
The newspaper quoted unnamed sources as saying that the Ministry of Education in the South made a number of proposals in the (MOU) topped by teachers of Arabic language and Islamic studies, the sources said the Government of the South has set up an initial plan for continuing cooperation in the field of curriculum and Sudan School Certificate Examination until the year 2014, whereas the curriculum of the new state should be completed, stressing that the South will ensure implementation of technical services for the process.

Between the lines
I do believe that any opportunity for cooperation between Sudan and the nascent state of  South Sudan should be given priority in order to enhance the mutual relations between the two states because it will be beneficial to the economic situation of both countries.
The current situation of both states requires more cooperation between the two countries. As it sets about building its infrastructure, the Republic of Southern Sudan will find a better partner in Sudan in terms of providing professional and vocational expertise, including teachers, engineers, doctors and agriculturalists that are more conversant with the issues of South Sudan because of the common denominators between people of the two states.
These cadres can play a great role in building the new state, and as it is widely known that the Sudanese professionals have been contributing to building capacities in many Arab and African countries.
Let us forget about the past, look ahead and take practical steps towards dealing with the new reality in order to build distinctive neighbourly relations based on coordination and cooperation to serve common interests between the two states.
