13 dead, 26 injured in bus accident in Al Kamleen

The crashed Mini-bus

Thirteen passengers died and twenty six injured in a terrible bus accident yesterday evening at Al Takala Abbasher village in Al Kamleen locality, along Khartoum-Madani road.

An eyewitness told me that the accident occurred in Al Takala Abbasher,  village about 81 kilometers from Khartoum, when a bus and a mini-bus were involved in a head-on collision at 12 pm on Saturday, “following the explosion of the front wheel of the bus, it deviated from its route and collided with the mini-bus on the other track”. The eyewitness added.

The Sudan News Agency confirmed that the accident resulted in the death of 13 people, who have been moved to the Khartoum morgue, and 26 people wounded have been taken by ambulances to Khartoum and Al Kamleen hospitals.

Immediately after the accident, director of the traffic police
arrived at the location of the accident, accompanied by number of ambulances and patrol vehicles to transport the bodies and take the injured to hospitals.

Traffic accidents with high death tolls are very common in the Khartoum-Madani road and are often blamed on the badly maintained road and negligent drivers.

In an accident last August, around 19 people were killed at a similar accident, when a minibus was hit by a bus in Al Kasamber village, about seven kilometers from Al Takala village.
