ANHRI denounces arrests of the Beja-congress leaders

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI), has strongly denounced arresting of the leaders of the Beja Congress Party by the authorities during the anniversary of Beja massacre which affiliated to Port-Sudan State, on Monday January 28, 2013..

In a press statement it issued today, ANHRI said that the Sudanese authorities in the east of the country arrested  6 of Beja Congress Party leaders during their involvement in one of the marches in the anniversary of the martyrs of  Beja, including, Omar Mohamed (Beja), Mahmoud Handassa, Osama and Hashim Tahir (Kmona). as usual, the Martyrs Committee of the Beja Congress Party commemorate the martyrs of the city of Beja, with the knowledge of the authorities and despite its restrictions against the activists and who are involved in the march by the prosecutions and assualts.


The events took place in 2005, when the peaceful protesters called for stopping the war and right in work in addition to the right to decent life and to put an end to the marginalization of the city, as 20 protesters died by the bullets of the policemen.


 “The persistence of the violations against the freedom of expression in Sudan deemed to be a serious violation to the human rights and his basic freedoms”. ANHRI said.
